The Pediatric Dentist, in conjunction with the Center’s mission, provides comprehensive pediatric dental care in a patient-centered, quality-oriented manner. This role also involves providing clinical supervision and instruction to Pediatric Residents and dental students. The position requires adherence to all relevant regulations including OSHA, HIPAA, and U.S. Department of Education guidelines. Key responsibilities include performing administrative duties such as chart documentation, completing referrals and pre-authorizations, and attending to chart review and attending duties for residents and students. The role also involves participation in committee and staff meetings, maintaining licensure and credentialing, and ensuring a safe work environment. A Staff Pediatric Dentist will work eight (8) clinical sessions per week, with each session being a five (5) hour period. A significant portion of clinical time will be dedicated to supervising pediatric dental residents. The dentist will provide comprehensive dental care to pediatric and special needs patients, adhering to the Standard of Care. This includes taking on-call after-hours emergency calls on a rotating basis and supervising residents who are on call. Staffing evening or Saturday clinics may also be required. Collaboration with the Pediatric and Family Practice Medical Staff is essential to support the Integrative Health Home Model, with availability for consultation on dental issues. Maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment is crucial, as is demonstrating proficiency with Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards. The role demands exceptional customer service, effective complaint resolution, and modeling El Rio Behavioral Standards and AIDET principles. Direct supervision of dental team members, including auxiliary staff, residents, and students, is a key function. The dentist will contribute to a professional and respectful working environment, embracing diversity and multiculturalism. Productivity goals must be met in a cost-effective manner, and Health Center resources must be utilized judiciously. Continuing dental education is required as per Board of Dental Examiners requirements.
