About The Position

Emory University, in collaboration with the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Emory University Department of Pediatrics, is seeking an Aflac Hematology Clinician. This role is part of a large and comprehensive Hematology Program, which is an integral component of the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center. The program boasts over 30 faculty members and 15 advance practice providers, making it the largest pediatric hematology program in the country. It includes the largest pediatric Sickle Cell program nationally, with over 2,100 active patients, and a premier Hemostasis and Thrombosis program supporting over 750 patients with bleeding and clotting disorders. The position emphasizes clinical service and administrative duties, with 70-90% of the effort dedicated to clinical responsibilities within the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Clinical duties will encompass both inpatient and outpatient care, primarily at the new Arthur M. Blank Hospital and also at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital. The remaining effort will support the applicant’s academic interests, with outpatient time potentially tailored to general hematology, sickle cell disease, or hemostasis/thrombosis (HT) based on the candidate's interests and qualifications. The role also involves contributing to the education and training of medical students, residents, fellows, and other physicians in the pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT Division.

Requirements

  • MD, MD/PhD, or DO degrees.
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
  • Currently licensed as a physician and eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia.
  • A history of clinical excellence/achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Devote 70-90% of effort to clinical responsibilities within the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, including inpatient and outpatient care.
  • Provide clinical care primarily at the new Arthur M. Blank Hospital and Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital.
  • Tailor outpatient time to support primary foci in general hematology, sickle cell disease, or hemostasis/thrombosis (HT), depending on candidate interests and qualifications.
  • Play a role in the education and training program of the pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT Division, involving medical students, residents, fellows, and physicians in practice.
  • Engage in administrative duties as part of the role.
