About The Position

Are you an accomplished pediatric cardiac sonographer who is passionate about patient care and would like to join a vibrant, expanding team? At Banner Health, medical imaging is essential to providing top-notch patient care. Join us! You must be able to work in a dynamic, expanding, and fast-paced accredited pediatric echo lab as a registered pediatric cardiac sonographer. At our several hospital campuses, we offer services in both inpatient and outpatient clinic settings, including satellite clinics with portable equipment. Traveling and being flexible at the last minute are requirements. Transthoracic echocardiograms must be performed for both adult and pediatric patients with basic to complicated congenital heart disease. Make use of your superior understanding of cardiac physiology and illness to make sure that preliminary reports contain detailed information and that important discoveries are communicated promptly. Exams must be conducted in acute hospital settings, such as the operating room, cardiac catheter lab, emergency department, neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, and other inpatient units. Opportunities are available to act as a preceptor for students or new employees as necessary as well to learn and perform Fetal Echocardiograms and Transesophageal Echocardiograms. Must be open to taking holiday and after-hours calls at various hospital locations. Strong time management abilities and outstanding people skills are required. Call bonuses, working 4–10 hour shifts are all excellent incentives. Requires graduation from an approved school for Cardiac Ultrasound as designated by the AMA and American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine. Requires national certification in the area of specialty from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer in Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS-PE), or a Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS). BLS certification required. Pediatric certification is required. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, analyze data and solve problems. Experience in dedicated pediatric echocardiography center typically achieved with minimum of 3 years of experience, or in a combined adult/pediatric echo center to equal 3 years of pediatric experience is required.

Requirements

Requires graduation from an approved school for Cardiac Ultrasound as designated by the AMA and American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine.

Nice To Haves

Current or recent (past 12 months) experience in cardiac critical care setting as a Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer is preferred.
Ability to perform additional imaging modalities such as fetal echo, stress echo, or 3D echocardiograms are preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
Ability to perform Fetal Echocardiograms and Transesophageal Echocardiograms.
Preferred competence in assisting with invasive/interventional and intraoperative procedures in accordance with established practices.

Responsibilities

Independently performs echocardiograms on pediatric and adult patients with complex congenital heart disease utilizing department specific protocols.
Records, interrogates, quantifies, and measures both the presence of normal and abnormal anatomy or physiology in a manner consistent with approved standards.
Performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers’ orders.
Participates in the educational objectives of the pediatric echocardiography laboratory, including effectively mentoring or precepting other sonographers, students or other trainees.
Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements and maintenance requirements.
Accountable for the ethical, legal, professional and certification responsibilities related to the practice.
Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department.
Independently performs prescribed procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols to patients.
