About The Position

Metropolitan Family Services (MFS) is seeking a full-time Peace Academy Training Specialist to join their Metropolitan Peace Initiatives Team. MFS is leading the Communities Partnering 4 Peace initiative, a framework aimed at reducing violence and gang activity through community-driven strategies. This role will contribute to empowering community-based organizations and transforming community perceptions and realities regarding violence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in developing curriculum, coordinating trainings, or related experience.
  • Must have access to a vehicle, valid driver's license, and proof of insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with formerly incarcerated and/or street-involved individuals.
  • Graduate of Peace Academy outreach, case management, or victim services cohort.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of academy training operations through service delivery, delivery partners, and implementation of evaluation/CQI programs.
  • Foster an environment of open communications and collaboration among academy staff and partners, building a student-centered, community-focused team.
  • Participate in the development of the training curriculum and instructors to cultivate leadership in violence reduction.
  • Coordinate a range of training programs for violence intervention, law enforcement, and other stakeholders, including developing schedules, preparing trainers, creating visual aids, and analyzing evaluation data.
  • Coordinate trainings on violence reduction issues such as community organizing, cultural competence, and multi-sector collaboration.
  • Provide technical support for implementing new strategies, ensuring program model fidelity, documentation, collaboration, and use of evaluation feedback.
  • Actively participate in forums, meetings, and strategy sessions with community members, public officials, law enforcement, and subject matter experts.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Academy events like graduations and cohort meet and greets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
