About The Position

The Patient Care Technician Education Assistant functions as a clinical assistant to the Network PCT education team. This position focuses on the education, training and orientation of Patient Care Technician Apprentices and Patient Care Technicians under the direction of a registered nurse educator.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • PCT experience in a hospital setting.
  • Mentoring/precepting experience.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership qualities.
  • The ability to learn quickly and adapt to change.
  • A strong sense of responsibility and accountability for providing education that consistently adheres to HMH policy and procedure.
  • An exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education and the ability and passion to assist with the delivery of the highest quality of education and service based on a strong sense of focus on patient safety.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
  • Maintains competence in all aspects of Patient Care Technician job role.
  • Proficient in computer skills including Google applications and Epic.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position.

Responsibilities

  • Expert in verbalizing and demonstrating all skills required of the Patient Care Technician job role to new hires.
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of classroom environment.
  • Maintains equipment in good working order and reports issues to RN educators promptly.
  • Maintains par levels of classroom supplies.
  • Performs clerical duties; data entry, assembles and maintains par levels of educational materials.
  • Responds to email in a timely manner.
  • Delivers documents to the hospital as needed.
  • Recognizes and responds to opportunities to enhance the orientation process.
  • Self directed, self motivated to do more than is expected or required within scope of practice.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
