Performs advanced, time-intensive scheduling to support complex surgeries and/or imaging and procedures outside the current clinic, such as at a hospital or outpatient radiology center. The role is considered advanced and time-intensive when at least 75% of the employee’s time is spent coordinating cases performed in an ambulatory surgery center or inpatient setting, multiple specialties, or preoperative and postoperative testing and clearance. The scheduler may coordinate complex, sequential treatment appointments for clinical-trial and standard-of-care patients, as well as transplant-related work-ups and evaluations for donors and patients. Serves as the primary point of care for these patients and their families and acts as an administrative resource for staff coordinating patient care. Additional work may include scheduling return visits, ancillary appointments, new patients, imaging, and procedures; completing patient data forms; coordinating provider referrals; retrieving medical records; and completing required precertification authorizations. The role collaborates with management to address or escalate patient complaints, covers front-desk and other back-office duties as needed, and supports training for new PCCs and other administrative staff. Other duties may be assigned.
