About The Position

The PCB Layout Designer & Engineering Technician designs and creates printed circuit board layouts for new product development, sustaining engineering, and technology projects. The role works closely with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineers to translate schematic designs into manufacturable PCB layouts, while supporting prototype builds, laboratory activities, engineering documentation, and design verification. The ideal candidate has strong PCB CAD expertise, attention to detail, and hands-on technical skills to support products from concept through production release. The position creates complex PCB layouts from electrical schematics using approved ECAD tools, develops multilayer designs across a range of technologies and applications, and performs component placement, routing, stack-up implementation, and design optimization. The role also applies manufacturability, assembly, and testability principles; collaborates with electrical engineers on signal integrity, power integrity, thermal, and EMI/EMC concerns; generates manufacturing documentation; and supports design reviews and approved design changes.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, CAD Design, or a related technical field; equivalent experience is considered.
  • At least one year of PCB layout experience.
  • Experience with PCB CAD tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics/PADS, or similar.
  • Understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Experience creating manufacturing documentation packages.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience with AI tools to drive operational efficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • Experience supporting high-speed digital, mixed-signal, RF, or power electronics designs.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC design practices.
  • Experience collaborating with mechanical teams in MCAD environments.
  • Familiarity with PLM, ECO, and revision control processes.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and offshore design partners.

Responsibilities

  • Create complex PCB layouts from electrical schematics using approved ECAD tools, including Siemens Xpedition.
  • Develop multilayer PCB designs, including high-density, mixed-signal, analog, digital, RF, and power designs.
  • Perform component placement, routing, stack-up implementation, and design optimization.
  • Apply design-for-manufacturability (DFM), design-for-assembly (DFA), and design-for-testability (DFT) principles.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to resolve signal integrity, power integrity, thermal, and EMI/EMC concerns.
  • Generate fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing documentation packages.
  • Support PCB design reviews and implement approved design changes.
  • Support prototype builds, laboratory activities, engineering documentation, and design verification.
