About The Position

The PCB Layout Designer & Engineering Technician designs and creates printed circuit board layouts for new product development, sustaining engineering, and technology projects. The role works closely with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineers to translate schematic designs into manufacturable PCB layouts and supports prototype builds, laboratory activities, engineering documentation, and design verification. The position requires PCB CAD expertise, attention to detail, and hands-on technical skills to support products from concept through production release. The designer creates complex PCB layouts from electrical schematics using approved ECAD tools, including Siemens Xpedition. Work includes multilayer designs for high-density, mixed-signal, analog, digital, RF, and power applications; component placement and routing; stack-up development; and design optimization. The role applies DFM, DFA, and DFT principles, collaborates with electrical engineers on signal integrity, power integrity, thermal, and EMI/EMC concerns, prepares fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing documentation, and supports design reviews and approved design changes.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, CAD Design, or a related technical field; equivalent experience is considered.
  • At least one year of PCB layout experience.
  • Experience with PCB CAD tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics/PADS, or similar.
  • Understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Experience creating manufacturing documentation packages.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience with AI tools to drive operational efficiency.
  • PCB design skills including component placement and routing, multilayer board design, high-speed design fundamentals, differential-pair routing, controlled-impedance design, HDI technologies, PCB stack-up development, and design-rule management.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • Experience supporting high-speed digital, mixed-signal, RF, or power electronics designs.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC design practices.
  • Experience collaborating with mechanical teams in MCAD environments.
  • Familiarity with PLM, ECO, and revision-control processes.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and offshore design partners.

Responsibilities
