PCB Layout Design Engineer

Eridan•Sunnyvale, CA

About The Position

Eridan is seeking a hands-on PCB layout engineer to lead the end-to-end physical layout of complex, high-density boards that connect robots and support physical AI. The boards combine GaN RF power stages up to 10 GHz with FPGAs, DDR4, and high-current power. Layout decisions—including board size, stackup, thermal paths, and RF isolation—affect product size, power, and link reliability. The engineer will work directly with system architects, RF engineers, and manufacturing partners, and contribute to design rules, libraries, vendors, and layout workflows. The role includes laying out the first generation of Eridan hardware intended to be used on robots. Eridan is a small team working on challenging hardware. Priorities may shift as products move from lab to field, and the company values adaptability, proactive problem-solving, fast learning, and keeping teammates informed. The position requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship or visa transfers.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional PCB layout experience in Altium Designer.
  • A track record of mixed-signal PCB designs that include RF layout up to 10 GHz.
  • Strong skills routing complex FPGA/BGA footprints and high-speed digital buses such as DDR4.
  • Solid knowledge of stackup design, impedance control, grounding and plane partitioning, and signal and power integrity fundamentals.
  • Experience creating component libraries from datasheets to IPC standards.
  • Direct experience working with PCB/PCBA vendors through selection, NPI, and production ramp.
  • A good grasp of DFx principles and cost optimization in complex board layouts.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and proactive problem-solving in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship or visa transfers.

Nice To Haves

  • Thermal management experience in high-power-density designs, especially GaN or RF power amplifiers.
  • Experience as an ECAD or PCB librarian, owning a central IPC-compliant component library, including part creation standards, review and release, and lifecycle management.
  • IPC CID or CID+ certification.

Responsibilities

  • Execute high-density, multilayer PCB layouts in Altium Designer, from stackup and placement through routing, review, and release.
  • Route complex mixed-signal circuits, including FPGA/BGA fanout, DDR4 and other high-speed digital interfaces, and RF paths up to 10 GHz.
  • Apply constraint management and advanced routing rules to protect signal and power integrity across sensitive RF/analog and digital domains.
  • Work with PCB fabrication and PCBA assembly partners to select vendors, confirm capabilities, establish stackups, and streamline production.
  • Incorporate design-for-manufacturability, assembly, and test (DFx) feedback to reduce cost and maximize yield.
  • Match design tolerances and material choices to vendor capabilities to support robust quality at the right cost.
  • Build and maintain schematic symbols and footprints from datasheets to IPC and Eridan library standards.
  • Contribute to internal PCB design standards and layout guidelines.
  • Participate in formal schematic and layout design reviews to improve hardware quality.

Benefits

  • Ability to learn, develop, and advance within a flexible environment.
  • Collaborate with smart, passionate, and helpful co-workers.
  • Celebrate progress company-wide.
  • Pre-IPO equity and stock options.
  • 401K with automatic match.
  • Health insurance.
  • Vision insurance.
  • Dental insurance.
