PCB Designer II

Mini-CircuitsBrooklyn, NY
Onsite

About The Position

Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications. With design, sales, and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits’ products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications. Our products are also used in detection, measurement, and imaging applications, including military communication, guidance, and electronic countermeasure systems, commercial, scientific, military land, sea, and aircraft; automotive systems, medical systems, and industrial test equipment. Mini-Circuits sells its products to over 20,000 customers globally through our direct sales force, applications engineering staff, and sales representatives, as well as through our extensive website. The PCB Designer II is responsible for utilizing computer aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD or DraftSight to design Printed Circuits Boards (PCB), PCB arrays and solder stencils, and to create/revise drawings for all items listed above, and to post new/updated drawings and documents into PLM system. Member is also responsible for creating programs needed to perform Pick and Place (P&P) assembly by responsible production departments of Mini-Circuits. Member has to ensure that created drawings and documents meet product design goal, existing standards and Mini-Circuits procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Create PCB artwork by converting CAD drawing into gerber files to be processed by PCB suppliers or to be used for in house PCB prototyping.
  • Design LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) from engineering mark-up or schematic diagram/simulation results provided by design engineer.
  • Design PCB arrays (including LTCC arrays) and solder stencils from the scratch and prepare their artworks (gerber files) to be used by PCB and solder stencil suppliers in production.
  • Create PCB, PCB arrays and solder stencils Item Numbers, Bills of Materials (BOM) and release them to PLM system.
  • Provide design input to Mechanical Engineers (mechanical enclosures/housing for connectorized models, outline drawings for surface mounted devices, etc.) and to Electrical Design Engineers (circuit simulation).
  • Prepare, review and maintain Schematic and PCB component library based on current revision of documented PCB design rules, component Specification Control Drawings (SCD) and supplier recommendations.
  • Maintain component and project libraries using Engineering Data Management (EDM) system.
  • Prepare draft drawings per engineering requests for Engineering Development (ED) projects.
  • Review and approve working gerber files (WG) or check-plots provided by PCB and solder stencil suppliers.
  • Communicate with PCB, LTCC and stencil manufacturers to resolve documentation issues, review and approve Engineering queries.
  • Create special catalog PCB layout drawings (98-PL category of drawings) based on PCB layout used in evaluation board for surface-mounted model.
  • Prepare programs for P&P machines.
