SPHS is looking for a candidate to operate a computerized switchboard console and perform basic keyboard functions. This role involves directing incoming and in-house calls, handling transfers, paging, conference calls, and faxing. The PBX Operator is crucial in initiating appropriate paging and contacting personnel during emergencies, maintaining professionalism with all customers, and announcing/dispatching appropriate parties for Code Blue, Code Yellow, and other emergency situations. This position requires good communication skills, a clear voice, good English, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. The role also plays a key part in announcing and preparing staff for JCAHO visits and emergency preparedness situations. Additionally, the operator must be well-organized with good short-term memory, capable of taking and writing clear notes quickly, and documenting daily and emergency situations in the office logbook. Maintaining on-call schedules and switchboard functions is also a responsibility. Assistance may be requested outside of scheduled hours.
