St. Peter's Hospital is seeking a Full-Time PBX Operator for the Night Shift. The ideal candidate will operate telecommunication equipment, including a computerized switchboard console, and perform basic keyboard functions. This role involves directing incoming and in-house calls, handling transfers, paging, conference calls, and overhead paging. In emergency situations, the PBX Operator must initiate appropriate paging and contact personnel in a timely manner. The position requires excellent communication skills, a clear voice, good English, and the ability to remain calm and professional, especially when dealing with difficult customers. As first responders to emergencies, they are responsible for announcing and dispatching appropriate parties for Code Blue, Code Yellow, and other emergency situations. The role demands good organization and short-term memory, as well as the ability to take and write clear, understandable notes quickly. Documentation of daily operations and emergency situations in the office logbook is also required. The PBX Operator will maintain on-call schedules and perform other switchboard-related functions. Assistance during hours other than scheduled may be requested by a supervisor.
