About The Position

Compass Group is seeking a Payroll Tax Intern to join its Payroll Services department. The paid internship is part of a 10-week Corporate Intern Program and provides hands-on experience working with experienced payroll professionals. The position is hybrid: interns work three days per week at Compass Group’s headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, and two days remotely. The program runs from May 17, 2027, through July 22, 2027, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The internship is not eligible for paid time off or medical, dental, vision, or other benefits. Employment-based visa and permanent residency sponsorship are not available for this position.

Requirements

Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Science, or a similar program.
Minimum GPA of 3.0.
Ability to take direction and communicate clearly and effectively.
Ability to work independently and in partnership with team members.
Self-driven, proactive problem solver with great attention to detail.
Proficiency in managing time and meeting deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

Aid in auditing payroll system outputs to ensure compliance with established standards.
Provide standard and ad-hoc payroll reports and data analytics to support decision-making.
Assist with timely and accurate processing of payroll master data and payroll processing.
Run reports and prepare data for audits and legal requests.
Validate tax reports for multiple filing frequencies.
Provide prompt customer service regarding payroll and payroll-related policy questions.
Support process improvements through projects and initiatives.
Review and update process documentation.
Assist with special projects.
Assist other teams within the department when requested.
