About The Position

The Temporary Payroll Tax Analyst, Payroll Operations will provide support for payroll tax, stock-related payroll activity, quarterly reconciliations, and year-end payroll processes. This temporary role will assist with validating payroll tax data, researching tax notices, assist with tax account registrations, supporting stock income reporting, preparing reconciliations, and coordinating with internal partners and external vendors to help ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of payroll tax concepts, taxable wages, tax withholding, reconciliations, and year-end payroll requirements.
  • Experience supporting stock-related payroll activity, including reportable income, tax withholding, and coordination with stock administration or equity vendors.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research discrepancies, reconcile data, and summarize findings clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines during high-volume quarterly and year-end processing periods.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, payroll reporting, query tools, and documentation of reconciliations and open items.
  • Ability to work independently within defined procedures and escalate questions or exceptions appropriately.
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent relevant experience running payroll
  • 3+ years' experience supporting payroll, payroll tax, payroll accounting, stock-related payroll activity, or year-end payroll processing.
  • Experience researching payroll tax issues, reconciling payroll data, and supporting quarterly or year-end deliverables preferred.
  • Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis in Excel and Word, including advanced proficiency

Nice To Haves

  • Payroll tax experience with the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico.
  • Experience with high volume, multiple entity, multiple state, payroll tax
  • Experience supporting stock compensation, equity income reporting, or related payroll tax withholding.
  • Experience supporting quarterly payroll tax reconciliations, year-end balancing, W-2 review, or payroll tax amendments.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
  • Experience with ADP Global View, Workday, SAP
  • Experience working with third party tax vendors such as ADP and Equifax

Responsibilities

  • Provide temporary operational support for payroll tax, stock, quarterly, and year-end activities.
  • Assist with payroll tax reconciliations, tax notice research, agency correspondence tracking, and follow-up with payroll tax vendors.
  • Support review of stock-related payroll files, including reportable income, tax withholding, and timely submission for payroll processing.
  • Assist with quarterly and year-end payroll tax validation, reconciliation, and documentation to support accurate filings for 25 legal entities across multiple states.
  • Document status, issues, and follow-up items clearly and escalate unresolved items to payroll leadership as appropriate.
  • Execute assigned payroll tax and year-end deliverables according to established timelines and procedures.
  • Track assigned tasks, deadlines, open items, and dependencies for payroll tax, stock, quarterly, and year-end workstreams.
  • Prepare, review, and organize supporting documentation for reconciliations, adjustments, tax amendments, agency inquiries, and year-end audits for W2 preparation.
  • Partner with Payroll Operations, Payroll Tax, Stock Administration, Finance, Treasury, HR, Global Mobility, and vendors to resolve assigned items.
  • Provide clear updates on progress, risks, and completed work to payroll leadership.
  • Apply payroll tax, stock, and year-end knowledge to assigned operational responsibilities.
  • Assist with review and validation of payroll tax data, including taxable wages, tax withholding, jurisdictional setup, and adjustment activity.
  • Support year-end activities related to W-2 preparation, taxable fringe benefits, stock income reporting, and payroll tax reconciliations.
  • Research payroll tax notices and discrepancies and coordinate with vendors or internal partners to support timely resolution.
  • Identify potential process, control, or data-quality issues and recommend improvements to payroll leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to support accurate and compliant payroll outcomes.
  • Coordinate assigned items with Payroll Operations, Payroll Tax, Stock Administration, Finance, Treasury, HR, Global Mobility, and third-party providers.
  • Maintain clear documentation of work performed, outstanding questions, approvals, and vendor follow-up.
  • Support compliance with payroll policies, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements by following established procedures.
  • Provide responsive customer service to internal partners while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk payroll tax, stock, or year-end items to payroll leadership for review and direction.
  • Review open items, manual checks, adjustments, and payroll tax-related issue logs.
  • Assist with quarterly and year-end tax reconciliations and supporting documentation.
  • Support review of payroll tax payments, filings, amendments, and agency notices.
  • Coordinate with stock vendors and internal partners to support timely recording of reportable stock income.
  • Generate and validate reports using available payroll reporting and query tools.
  • Maintain documentation and provide status updates for assigned year-end and payroll tax tasks.
