About The Position

Map Communications, Inc. is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to join our team in Chesapeake. In this role, you will play a critical part in overseeing the employee's total life cycle, including but not limited to onboarding, processing employment changes, benefit administration, processing payroll and offboarding. This is an in-office position where you will have a direct impact on our team's experience.

Requirements

5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including 2 years supervising a team.
Experience processing multi-state payroll and applying federal, state, and local payroll requirements.
Experience with ADP WFN or other HRIS systems.
Proven ability to coach and lead others.
Ability to quickly learn new systems and technology.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.)
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

FPC/CPP certification (or currently in progress)
Experience in benefits and leave administration
Experience with Workers' Compensation administration

Responsibilities

Lead, train, mentor and support payroll team members.
Lead payroll initiatives including system migrations and process improvements.
Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for payroll processing, reporting, and compliance.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
Review and approve payrolls, ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and according to applicable requirements.
Resolve complex payroll discrepancies, system issues, tax concerns, and sensitive employee pay inquiries.
Oversee federal, state, and local payroll tax activities, including ADP tax filings and year-end W-2 processing.
Conduct internal audits and reconciliations.
Help shape payroll operations built around accurate pay, strong relationships, and continuous improvement.
