About The Position

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations. This role involves collaborating with HR and finance teams, assisting with audits, and responding to employee inquiries. Requirements

Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on full-cycle payroll processing experience
Extensive knowledge of multi-state payroll tax laws and regulations
Proficiency with payroll software systems and Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Nice To Haves

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Experience in the professional services industry and/or with Deltek Vantagepoint is a plus
Payroll certification such as FPC, CPP, or equivalent is a plus
Experience working in a complex, multi-state environment is preferred
Familiarity with timekeeping systems and benefits administration is preferred

Responsibilities

Process accurate and timely payroll for employees across multiple states, including regular and off-cycle runs
Calculate and withhold federal, state, and local taxes ensuring compliance with varying multi-state regulations
Prepare and file payroll tax returns and related reports on time
Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies related to tax withholdings and deductions
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing payroll laws and regulations for all applicable states
Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure employee records and payroll data accuracy
Assist with audits related to payroll and tax compliance
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, tax deductions, and benefits
Support year-end payroll activities including W-2 and 1099 preparation
