The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the delivery of the end-to-end payroll cycle for our U.S. employees (salaried, union, hourly, etc.) across all states in full compliance with the applicable Collective Agreements, Employment Contracts, HR and Payroll Policies and applicable Local, State and Federal Payroll and Tax regulations.

Requirements

  • College or University Degree in Accounting, Administration, Human Resources and/or in a related field.
  • 5 years of experience processing multiple payrolls across the U.S. for salaried, hourly and union employees.
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Dayforce.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite, specifically Excel formulas, pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOPUP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Meticulous and accurate work.
  • Ability to work in a team and individually.
  • Creative problem solver, solution-based focus.
  • Strong data analysis and math skills.
  • Flexibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the execution of the end-to-end payroll process of our pay groups in Dayforce covering salaried, hourly, and union employees across multiple sites in the U.S.
  • Ensure compliance and integrity of the payroll process.
  • Generate payroll-related reports for analysis, information, or statistical purposes.
  • Prepare financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.
  • Administer State and Federal pay laws (Employment Records, Family Support, Garnishments, Union Deductions, etc.).
  • Communicate and maintain good collaboration with internal (HR, Finance, Tax, Compliance, etc.) and external stakeholders.
  • Administer pay rules and work policies for all Collective Agreements.
  • Proceed to third-party remittance processes (Government, Union, etc.).
  • Administer taxable benefits (Auto benefits, Group Insurance, Disability, 401(k) and others).
  • Calculate retroactivities or other special payments.
  • Respond to pay-related questions and requests from employees, managers, and external agencies.
  • Audit State and Federal Pay records (Tax forms, pay statements, etc.).
  • Participate in month-end, year-end, and quarter-end processes and ensure compliance with established standards and any other requested tasks related to the function.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by the immediate supervisor in support of Human Resources.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll information in alignment with privacy legislation and internal controls.
