About The Position

This is a full-time, permanent position with a Monday-Friday schedule, located onsite. The role involves managing the full payroll cycle for an organization of approximately 100-130 employees, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. Responsibilities include reviewing and auditing employee timecards, processing payroll, running payroll reports, and communicating with employees and leadership regarding payroll-related questions. A key aspect of the role is maintaining and supporting HRIS/payroll systems, including system configuration, updates, and troubleshooting. The Payroll Specialist will also process payroll for a workforce with multiple union contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and labor agreements. The position reports directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer, with collaboration with the HR team to support payroll operations and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years of full-cycle payroll experience required.
  • Experience maintaining and configuring HRIS/payroll systems (SmartLinx, ADP, Workday, or similar).
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Willingness to obtain the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification within one year of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience processing payroll in a union environment preferred.
  • Experience with systems such as SmartLinx, ADP, Workday, or similar HRIS platforms preferred.
