About The Position

Cunningham Children’s Home is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. As the Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for day-to-day payroll operations for a non-profit organization with approximately 400 employees. In addition to payroll duties, this role will involve billing, reconciliations, and monthly journal entries. The Payroll Specialist will also provide support to other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Accounting; experience may be substituted for the education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience.
  • Proficient in accounting, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
  • Strong understanding of payroll practices and bookkeeping.
  • Excellent communication skills and knowledge of email etiquette.
  • Ability to carry out routine responsibilities independently while maintaining a helpful and courteous attitude in person, over the phone, and via email.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with UKG Pro/Workforce Management preferred.
  • If experience substituted for education, five years experience required
  • Valid IL Driver’s License preferred (but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll accurately and on time for all employees.
  • Perform billing, reconciliations, and monthly journal entries related to payroll and accounting.
  • Assist other department members with payroll-related inquiries and tasks as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting.
  • Use UKG Pro/Workforce Management or similar payroll software for efficient payroll management.
