About The Position

The Payroll Specialist is accountable for providing quality service to all employees. This role involves assisting employees with payroll production and tax-related inquiries, ensuring accuracy, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree highly preferred.
  • 4 or more years of office-related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel functions such as VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, payroll software (e.g., Paylocity, ADP, etc.), and data entry.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, payroll software (e.g., Paylocity, ADP, etc.), data entry, and office equipment.
  • Strong customer service orientation with proven problem resolution skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with HRIS integrations and payroll system interfaces is a plus.
  • Experience processing or supporting multi-state payroll is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Compile payroll data including garnishments, vacation time, insurance, and 401(k) deductions for 1,000+ employees, including new hire and termination processing.
  • Review and verify information from electronic time clocks for completeness and accuracy.
  • Calculate overtime, vacation, and sick hours accurately.
  • Contact employees to obtain any missing information.
  • Process semi-monthly transfer of payroll data to the payroll system.
  • Generate payroll management reports from the payroll software system.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
