About The Position

The organization is seeking a Temporary Payroll Specialist to support it during a transition period. Following a recent departure, this person will take full ownership of the payroll function and manage payroll processing while leadership evaluates the department’s long-term structure. This is a standalone role responsible for payroll for approximately 370 employees, with about 80% weekly and 20% bi-weekly payrolls. The role is based in St. Charles County, Missouri, and has a Monday–Friday day schedule, typically 7:00 AM–3:30 PM. Flexible scheduling is available, including four 10-hour days. The assignment may be extended depending on business needs. Payroll currently reports through HR, although the future structure may change as new leadership joins the organization.

Requirements

At least 3 years of payroll processing experience is preferred.
Experience managing payroll independently from start to finish.
Knowledge of payroll regulations, tax reporting, garnishments, and compliance requirements.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting.

Nice To Haves

UKG experience is strongly preferred.
Experience with Epicor timekeeping is a plus.
Prior payroll experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.

Responsibilities

Process accurate and timely payroll for approximately 370 employees.
Manage weekly and bi-weekly payroll cycles.
Review and validate timesheets and payroll data before processing.
Process payroll deductions, garnishments, taxes, and benefit withholdings.
Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
Maintain payroll records and employee payroll data.
Generate payroll reports and reconcile payroll information as needed.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions from employees and management.
Partner with HR and Accounting to support payroll-related initiatives.
