About The Position

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll on a weekly, bi-weekly, and/or monthly basis for approximately 600 employees using the UKG platform. This role ensures that payroll transactions are processed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with all applicable laws, collective bargaining agreements, and internal policies. The specialist will administer payroll for employees covered by Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), process special payrolls and off-cycle requests, and manage union payroll processes, vacation payouts, PTO processing, and time-off reporting. Additionally, the role involves administering wage garnishments, direct deposit, and pay card setups, reconciling payroll reports, and researching/resolving discrepancies. Collaboration with HR and Finance teams is key to maintaining accurate employee records and payroll data. The specialist will also assist with audits and reporting requests, and stay updated on payroll laws, regulations, and system updates.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of payroll experience
  • At least 1 year using UKG systems (UKG Pro, UKG Ready, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of payroll best practices and compliance requirements at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll-related software tools.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience processing payroll for union and non-union employees preferred.

Responsibilities
