About The Position

Frontier Behavioral Health (FBH) is seeking a Payroll Specialist with experience working for large organizations, preferably non-profits. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the payroll department, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation and distribution of hourly/salaried payroll for all locations and personnel. FBH is a non-profit organization with over 100 years of presence in Spokane, dedicated to providing evidence-based treatment for behavioral health issues to adults, youth, and seniors. As a Trauma-Informed Care Organization, FBH believes in recovery and helping clients lead fulfilling lives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years of payroll experience in an organization with 100+ employees.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel application skills.
  • Experience working for large organizations, preferably non-profits.
  • Ability to work well under pressure of tight deadlines and time constraints.
  • Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented approach towards process improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills.
  • Team player with ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Manage confidential and sensitive issues and information.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of relevant education at the undergraduate level may be substituted for 1 year of required experience.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting or finance-related field.
  • Workday payroll processing software experience.
  • Payroll system conversion experience.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll timely, accurately, and compliantly for employees in the organization.
  • Process employee data including but not limited to new hires, changes, and additional earnings.
  • Process time and attendance data and reconcile variances.
  • Assure payroll related tax compliance.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of all payroll deductions and contributions.
  • Research payroll discrepancies and process necessary corrections.
  • Resolve employee complaints relating to the payroll system in coordination with Supervisor.
  • Monitor the shared payroll inbox and process or respond to requests timely.
  • Provide customer service to employees as related to all payroll functions.
  • Process and monitor compliance with all wage garnishments or support orders.
  • Assist with resolving discrepancies between payroll application data and FBH accounting system.
  • Assist with testing the periodic payroll software upgrades and hot fixes.
  • Balance W2s and assist with year-end duties.
  • Maintain and update process documentation and procedures as related to payroll duties.
  • Maintain at all times confidentiality of sensitive issues and information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
