ExplorUS is a family-owned company with 35 years of experience operating National, State, and local park concessions. Over the years we have worked to enhance, elevate, and complement the visitor’s experience at each park, landmark, and property we operate. We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our corporate team. This role includes supporting the processing of payroll operations across multi-state locations, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires a highly detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills, the ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality, and experience with multi-state payroll systems. The Payroll Specialist partners closely with the Payroll Manager, HR, finance teams, and external vendors to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, most commonly used Excel.
  • Strong understanding of federal/state/local wage laws including overtime calculations under FLSA guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting professionally with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities combined with attention to detail when handling complex calculations or resolving discrepancies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive employee data.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in multi-state payroll processing within a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with major payroll software platforms like Paycor or similar systems.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for employees across multiple states using Paycor payroll software.
  • Ensure all payroll changes are accurately entered into the system, including, new hires, terminations, promotions, salary adjustments, tax withholdings updates, garnishments, direct deposit details, and other deductions or earnings.
  • Verify employee time records for accuracy and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with Payroll Auditor and Manager.
  • Familiar with compliance with federal, state-specific wage laws, and local tax regulations across all applicable states.
  • Stay updates on changes in multi-state labor laws
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to paychecks, tax forms, benefits deductions, garnishments, or other payroll-related issues.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data to identify errors or inconsistencies in employee records or payments.
  • Manage large volumes of physical and electronic filing related to payroll documentation while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with Payroll Manager to trouble shoot technical issues within the payroll system.
  • Participate in special projects related to process improvements within the payroll function delegated by Payroll Manager.
