Requirements

  • Expertise in North American payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of the Workday system.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel required.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage high-volume workloads and multiple priorities.
  • 10 years of relevant experience.
  • College diploma (DEC) in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • National Payroll Institute (NPI) and/or APA certification.
  • Strong interest in new technologies, artificial intelligence and continuous process improvement.
  • Comfortable speaking in front of large groups.
  • Intermediate-level English language proficiency is required, as the incumbent will be expected to participate in meetings conducted exclusively in English with unilingual English-speaking employees and business partners located in the United States on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

  • Process North American payroll on a bi-weekly basis in collaboration with the payroll team.
  • Manage follow-ups and controls related to employee life events, including hires, compensation changes, leaves of absence and terminations.
  • Produce various reports related to pension plans and employee share purchase plans.
  • Issue Records of Employment and process special payments.
  • Participate in annual payroll activities, including bonuses, vacation cash-outs, tax slip production (T4, T4A and RL-1) and CNESST salary declarations.
  • Complete required forms for various government agencies and provide information required for annual audits.
  • Act as a resource person in supporting complex inquiries from the payroll team and the Employee Contact Centre, while managing escalations with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, participate in payroll-related projects and act as a spokesperson during presentations delivered to North American employees.
