Overview As the Payroll Manager, you will oversee biweekly payroll operations across a rapidly growing multi-state organization using Workday. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining compliance with payroll regulations, supporting payroll team development, and continuously improving payroll operations and reporting. You will serve as the subject matter expert for payroll and play a key role in supporting employees, leadership, and Human Resources through scalable payroll practices and strong operational execution. Compensation: Essential Functions: Lead and oversee full-cycle biweekly payroll processing for 2,000+ employees across multiple states Manage payroll operations within Workday, including earnings, deductions, commissions, bonuses, garnishments, PTO, and tax withholdings Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations Review and audit payroll data, reports, and payroll runs to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy Partner closely with HR, Accounting, and leadership teams to improve payroll workflows and operational efficiency Maintain payroll records, reporting, and documentation in accordance with company standards and compliance requirements Monitor changes in payroll laws and regulations and implement process updates as needed Support, train, and develop payroll team members while helping elevate overall team performance Create and maintain payroll reporting and audit processes to improve visibility and accountability Assist with payroll-related inquiries, escalations, and issue resolution Adapt quickly in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities can shift rapidly

Requirements

  • 5+ years of payroll experience, including high-volume payroll environments
  • Experience managing or overseeing payroll operations for large multi-state organizations
  • Strong experience with Workday payroll processing strongly preferred
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, taxes, garnishments, and compliance practices
  • Advanced attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of professionalism, accountability, and confidentiality

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
