Ensures accurate and timely processing and distribution of domestic and Canadian payrolls by leading the payroll function. Oversees governmental reporting and compliance. Motivates representative(s) by assessing strengths, weaknesses and providing appropriate developmental and training opportunities. Implements successful hiring and/or retention practices. Promotes quality customer care by developing, communicating, interpreting and ensuring adherence to payroll policies and procedures. Recommends, develops and implements quality improvement processes. Ensures compliance with federal and state payroll regulations by reviewing practices, procedures, reports and systems for accuracy and by managing reporting deadlines. Oversees specialized payroll functions by monitoring and ensuring proper documentation of employee benefits payments, reviewing special calculations and deductions (i.e., garnishments, gross-ups, etc) and auditing federal, state and local tax deposits and reports. Monitors FICA and FUTA contributions to ensure accuracy of individual pay checks. Helps ensure integrity of automated systems by functioning as the payroll and time and attendance system administrator. Coordinates the operation and maintenance of these systems directly with vendors. Oversees and tests data feeds to and from automated payroll and accounting systems. Ensures accurate payroll-related information by overseeing preparation and dissemination of payroll reports. Establishes a high standard for business confidentiality and data management. Contributes to team effort by participating in special projects, such as systems upgrades and conversions, on an as needed basis. May provide guidance to members on payroll related matters. Meets quality standards by establishing and following Company standards.
