About The Position

The Payroll Manager will be responsible for full-cycle payroll processing across multiple legal entities and EINs, including weekly, biweekly, and off-cycle runs for hourly and salaried employees. This role involves accurate and timely processing of wage attachments, garnishments, deductions, and other wages. Key responsibilities include ensuring payroll tax compliance at federal, state, and local levels, managing quarterly and annual filings, and staying current on multi-state wage and hour laws. The manager will optimize payroll using the HRIS (Rippling), handle system configuration, troubleshooting, and vendor accountability. They will also be responsible for audit reporting, developing and implementing payroll standards and metrics, ensuring benefits deduction accuracy, and managing year-end processing (W2s, reporting, reconciliation). Additionally, this role includes supervisory responsibility for the Payroll team, including selection, training, development, and feedback, as well as maintaining and enhancing internal controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of full-cycle payroll management experience in a multi-state, multi-entity environment; hospitality or high-volume hourly workforce strongly preferred.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) credential required; candidates actively pursuing the CPP designation will be considered, contingent upon obtaining the certification within [X] months of their start date.
  • Deep working knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll tax law, wage and hour compliance, and regulatory reporting.
  • Proven experience with complex HRIS platforms; Rippling experience a significant plus.
  • Learning agility and technical adaptability; you embrace new systems, figure them out quickly, and bring your team along with you.
  • Exceptional attention to detail; you notice what others miss, you document what you find, and you fix it before it reaches an employee.

Responsibilities

  • Full-cycle payroll processing across multiple legal entities and EINs; weekly, biweekly, and off-cycle runs for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Accurate and timely processing of wage attachments, garnishments, deductions, and other wages.
  • Payroll tax compliance; federal, state, and local withholding, quarterly and annual filings, and staying current on multi-state wage and hour law.
  • Payroll optimization using our HRIS (currently Rippling); system configuration, troubleshooting, and vendor accountability.
  • Audit reporting; compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, and wages for leadership review.
  • Development and implementation of measurable payroll standards and metrics to ensure accuracy and continuous improvement.
  • Benefits deduction accuracy and coordination with the Human Resources.
  • Year-end processing (W2s, reporting, reconciliation).
  • Supervisory responsibility for the Payroll team; selecting, training, developing, and providing clear and timely feedback to your people.
  • Internal controls; continuously monitoring workflow procedures and enhancing them as needed.
