DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Payroll DS Senior Supervisor, located in NJ New Brunswick. The Payroll Senior Team Lead will be responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and compliant payroll for designated countries, ensuring adherence to global standards, statutory requirements, internal controls, and service-level commitments. This role will act as the first level of payroll leadership, accountable for daily execution, team performance, service quality, and compliance. This role will lead and provide guidance to a team of analysts and senior analysts in delivering payroll operations, projects, and/or audits, while partnering with third-party vendors to maintain processes that support payroll administration.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of prior experience in Payroll, HR and/or Finance operations.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a Management/People Leader role is required
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of payroll processing concepts and statutory payroll requirements
  • Proficiency with payroll and HR systems (SAP and/or Workday preferred; ADP and other payroll systems advantageous).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic macros) and common Microsoft Office tools.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with case management or ticketing tools.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High degree of confidentiality and adherence to data privacy and internal controls.
  • Customer-focused with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Collaborative team player who builds effective working relationships.
  • Adaptable to multiple cultures and cross-functional interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting EMEA and/or ASPAC payroll processes.
  • Experience with timekeeping systems or case management tools.
  • Payroll certifications
  • Experience working with external payroll providers (e.g., ADP, EY, Deloitte).
  • Familiarity with SOX and business control frameworks, desktop procedures, and knowledge-management practices.
  • Prior experience in continuous improvement initiatives, automation tools (e.g., Alteryx), or payroll reporting tools.
  • Project Management skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage end‑to‑end payroll processing for assigned countries, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local statutory and company requirements
  • Execute payroll controls, approvals (including off‑cycle payments), reconciliations, payroll accounting entries, and statutory remittances
  • Act as an escalation point for payroll issues, discrepancies, and employee or stakeholder concerns, ensuring effective resolution and timely response
  • Establish & maintain the relationship with selected third-party vendors, ensuring adherence to service level agreements and operational metrics
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a consistent and accurate flow of data within the defined payroll processing timelines.
  • Ensure execution of payroll activities in accordance with SOX compliance, business controls, federal, state, local and other legislations or requirements
  • Lead/monitor audits by ensuring that requested records and evidence are provided in a timely manner
  • Ensure regular review and maintenance of payroll operating procedures, work instruction, and databases
  • Uphold confidentiality and ensure adherence to data privacy regulations
  • Lead/support payroll-related business, statutory, or compliance driven projects, ensuring delivery within scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Identify and implement initiatives to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency, and experience, promoting simplification, automation, and standardization
  • Lead/oversee analysis of process and system changes. Ensure completion of User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and verification of system changes, releases, and vendor/system upgrades.
  • Collaborate with internal partners (HR, Finance, IT) and third-party payroll providers on operational and project-related activities
  • Mentor and coach Payroll Senior Analyst and junior team members.
  • Oversee the selection, hiring, and onboarding of new team members.
  • Support the development of team members’ capabilities, knowledge, and skills.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment, fostering teamwork, and encouraging professional development.
  • Assist Payroll Manager/Lead in operational planning, project execution, and daily operations.
