This position provides training, guidance, and work direction to Payroll Clerk I, incumbents, and other temporary personnel assigned to the payroll unit. The Payroll Clerk II assists in reviewing payroll systems and procedures, recommends method improvements, and implements approved changes. This role processes payroll and related records for assigned major payrolls of the District, computing hours and pay, summarizing deductions, and verifying and inputting data. The position monitors changes in payroll-related data, prepares necessary adjustments, and communicates with District and site personnel regarding time reports, warrants, insurance coverage, and leave time. Additionally, the Payroll Clerk II responds to employee questions regarding payroll interpretation, processes specialized payroll services, calculates annual salary and budget projections, maintains individual earnings and deduction records, and manages employee attendance records. The role also involves sorting and distributing paychecks, preparing and maintaining files, processing employment verification forms, and operating standard office equipment.
