About The Position

Beep is transforming the way communities move. As a leader in autonomous mobility, we design, deploy, and operate shared, self-driving shuttle systems that connect people to transit, jobs, and everyday destinations in cities across the country. Headquartered in Orlando, Florida, Beep partners with municipalities, transit agencies, and private developers to bring safe, reliable, and innovative mobility solutions to communities nationwide. Behind every autonomous mile is a dedicated team of people, and that includes the People Operations team that keeps our growing, multistate workforce supported every step of the way. This role is based at our Orlando headquarters and supports our team members across multiple states. Beep is looking for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to own the accurate, compliant, and timely delivery of payroll and employee benefits programs. This is a mid-level, hands-on role for someone with solid working experience in both payroll processing and benefits administration who wants to be the go-to expert for how our people get paid and supported. You'll partner closely with HR, Finance, and outside vendors to keep payroll and benefits running smoothly as Beep grows.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to consistently meet hard deadlines.
  • Clear, patient communication style — comfortable explaining pay and benefits topics to employees at every level.
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (pivot tables, lookups, basic formulas).

  • Experience supporting payroll/benefits in a fast-growing or start-up environment.
  • Prior experience in transportation, logistics, or another operations-heavy industry.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll accurately and on time each cycle for hourly, salaried, and multi-state employees.
  • Review and audit timekeeping data, pay changes, bonuses, commissions, and off-cycle payments before submission.

  • Administer health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement (401(k)) benefit programs.
  • Lead day-to-day open enrollment activities, including employee communications and troubleshooting elections.
  • Process new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, and terminations of coverage.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with benefits brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
  • Support leave of absence administration (FMLA, state leave, short/long-term disability).
  • Help ensure compliance with ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA requirements, including required filings and notices.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date employee records in the HRIS/payroll system.
