About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking an experienced Payroll Assistant / Payroll Processor for an onsite assignment at a major healthcare facility in New York City. This role is responsible for accurately processing payroll for both hourly and salaried employees while ensuring compliance, confidentiality, and adherence to organizational policies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on payroll processing experience, including garnishments, tax processing, retroactive pay calculations, and year-end payroll activities. Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Office applications are essential. Experience in a fast-paced healthcare or large enterprise environment is highly desirable. This position requires flexibility to work alternating Friday schedules and the ability to manage multiple payroll processes efficiently across systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1–2 years of payroll processing experience
  • Strong knowledge of payroll operations, including: Garnishments, Tax processing, Retroactive pay adjustments, Year-end payroll activities, Payroll reconciliation and auditing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Experience with payroll systems such as Oracle Cloud, PeopleSoft, ADP, QuickBooks, or similar platforms
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, HR, or related field
  • FPC or CPP certification preferred
  • Prior experience in healthcare payroll environment
  • Experience working across multiple payroll systems

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees accurately and within required timelines
  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and retroactive pay adjustments
  • Handle wage garnishments, tax withholdings, and employee benefit deductions (including retirement contributions)
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records in HRIS and payroll systems
  • Review time-and-attendance data and payroll reports for accuracy
  • Perform payroll audits and reconciliations to ensure compliance and data integrity
  • Assist with payroll tax filings, year-end processing, and reporting (including W-2 preparation)
  • Support payroll-related accounting and administrative projects
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll data
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and management teams on payroll operations
