About The Position

Our client in Seattle, WA is currently hiring for a Staff Accountant. This position is a hybrid opportunity located in the South Lake Union area. The role will begin with several weeks of onsite training before transitioning to a hybrid schedule with onsite work Tuesday through Thursday. The ideal candidate will have experience with payroll processing, accounts payable, MIP accounting software, and nonprofit accounting environments.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or related accounting professional.
  • Experience working within a nonprofit organization highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with MIP (Abila MIP) accounting software.
  • Experience with accounts payable processing and vendor management.
  • Experience processing payroll and supporting payroll administration.
  • Strong general ledger, reconciliation, and journal entry experience.
  • Experience supporting month-end close activities and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and payroll accounting practices.
  • Experience preparing and reconciling payroll-related entries and reports.
  • Familiarity with W-9, W-8, 1099, and 1042-S reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Process semi-monthly payroll and maintain payroll records, compliance, and reporting.
  • Serve as the payroll system administrator and primary liaison with external payroll providers.
  • Allocate payroll and benefits across multiple funding sources and prepare related journal entries.
  • Reconcile payroll activity within the MIP accounting system.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll regulations, tax requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Generate payroll-related reports for Accounting and Human Resources teams.
  • Process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and accounts payable transactions.
  • Maintain accounts payable records, vendor files, and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct check runs and submit positive pay reports to banking institutions.
  • Reconcile accounts payable aging reports and general ledger balances.
  • Process credit card transactions and employee travel reimbursements.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting activities.
  • Prepare financial reports and assist with audit preparation and support.
  • Maintain compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage vendor documentation including W-9, W-8, 1099, and 1042-S reporting requirements.
  • Make bank deposits and maintain accurate cash receipt records.
  • Support additional accounting projects and reporting initiatives as needed.
