About The Position

Reporting to the Director, Capital Governance, the advisor is responsible for the financial monitoring, control, and reporting of capital projects, as well as monitoring capital budget envelopes across the entire corporation.

Requirements

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in budget monitoring and financial analysis within a medium to large organization;
  • CPA designation or MBA;
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) as well as Oracle EBS Project Costing;
  • Diplomatic, thoughtful, with sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and good organizational abilities;
  • Strong skills in financial analysis, planning, and budgeting;
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel; knowledge of PowerQuery/PowerPivot is an asset;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Ability to adapt in a changing environment, with a focus on continuous improvement of processes and work methods;
  • Team player;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, judgment, and diplomacy;
  • Customer-oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • knowledge of PowerQuery/PowerPivot is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the financial control of capital projects: process month-end journal entries; plan, approve, and monitor PSCs; analyze monthly results and produce an executive summary; participate in the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts;
  • Responsible for the financial control of the corporation’s various capital budget envelopes: participate in the development of required capital funding for the five-year plan, as well as monitoring with the different divisions;
  • Participate in the quarterly capital project prioritization process with the Director, Capital Governance; analyze various initiatives and ensure, among other things, compliance with accounting rules; prepare a summary table of available funding envelopes for prioritization; and participate in various meetings;
  • Actively contribute to documenting various processes and guidelines in collaboration with the corporate project management office, and ensure compliance with the organization’s capitalization policies.
