About The Position

The Payroll Administrator is a self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized administrative professional who is responsible for the complete and accurate processing of payroll and the maintenance of employee payroll files and records. They also act as a resource to internal customers to resolve payroll issues.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated administration skills (including solid knowledge base of Cornerstone, Office 365, Skype, Excel, UKG and/or Outlook, and completion of viability studies, budgeting, contract management, and scheduling management) are required.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a knack for data insights.
  • Ability to act with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office and advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organization, time management and problem-solving skills are required.
  • High-energy, self-directed individual who is able to multitask and work autonomously.
  • Ability to form trust-based credible working relationship with managers, employees, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • A University degree or college diploma in a related field strongly preferred.
  • Payroll certification (PCP) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a full cycle bi-weekly payroll. Reviews and verifies payroll reports.
  • Monitors time off policies assignment and balances, and ensures balances are correct.
  • Issues Records of employment in a timely fashion and uploads into Service Canada website.
  • Ensure all statutory deductions/RRSPs are remitted to third parties.
  • Completes ad-hoc payroll projects which may require research and custom-built reporting as required.
  • Performs annual payroll balancing at year-end for T4 preparation. Ensures CPP and EI deductions are correct based on insurable earnings.
  • Adheres to all payroll policies and procedures while driving continuous improvement and fostering accountability.
  • Maintains current knowledge of payroll issues, including legislation, rules and regulations from CRA, etc.
  • Performs additional finance and accounting duties, including Accounts Payable support, during periods of lower payroll activity.
  • Builds strong cross‑departmental relationships, communicates effectively with stakeholders, and supports operational improvements.
