Requirements

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of payroll fundamentals
  • Experience processing or supporting biweekly payroll, preferably for U.S. and/or Canada for exempt, non-exempt and union non-exempt employees.
  • Previous experience working with payroll managed services or third-party payroll providers
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Utilizing AI technologies to gain efficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when responding to employee inquiries
  • Proficiency with timekeeping systems and payroll software
  • Comfortable working in a confidential environment with sensitive employee data

Nice To Haves

  • 2–3 years of payroll or payroll administrative experience
  • Exposure to both U.S. and Canadian payroll processing
  • Experience supporting HR or Finance teams
  • Familiarity with leave administration and employment lifecycle processes

Responsibilities

  • Process and review biweekly U.S. and Canada payroll in partnership with payroll managed service providers to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of payroll fundamentals, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and time reporting
  • Monitor and manage the payroll electronic mailbox, ensuring timely and professional responses to employee and stakeholders on their payroll inquiries
  • Research and resolve employee questions related to pay, deductions, taxes, and time reporting
  • Review, audit, and correct timecard errors prior to payroll submission
  • Reconcile payroll data related to new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status
  • Track and reconcile employee leaves of absence, ensuring proper pay treatment and coordination with HR
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and validations to identify discrepancies and escalate issues as needed
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation in accordance with company policies and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with HR, Benefits, Compensation, Finance, and payroll vendors to support smooth payroll operations
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and special payroll projects as assigned
