About The Position

As a Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for accurately processing payroll for employees across multiple states and entities, while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role manages payroll reporting, reconciliations, and tax withholding issues, and serves as a key point of contact for audits, employment verifications, and wage garnishment inquiries. The Payroll Administrator position reports to the Vice President, Head of HR Operations and can be based out of our office in Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in payroll processing, garnishments, and payroll taxes in multiple states
  • Accounting experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain the highest standards of accuracy, precision, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Committed to delivering a high level of customer service
  • A high level of computer literacy, including expert knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel, and proficiency in HCM systems
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and a commitment to teamwork and collaboration

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, prepare and input payroll data to produce an accurate and timely payroll for employees across multiple states and entities
  • Prepare periodic reports and reconciliations related to payroll, paid time off, tax withholding and benefit deductions
  • Maintain payroll records, including time and attendance, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Prepare payroll related accrual entries and assist with account reconciliation variance resolution
  • Complete verification of employment forms as requested by third parties
  • Respond to federal, state, and local agencies regarding wage garnishments and levies
  • Open and manage cases with Ceridian Dayforce Advanced Tax Services, collaborating with them to research and resolve agency tax withholding issues
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
  • Ensure policies, procedures and practices related to their own work are documented and maintained
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the team
  • Work positively with colleagues and communicate effectively with management.
  • Provide information to employees and managers on policy and payroll matters and tax issues
