About The Position

Responsible for processing payroll, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing accounting support for a multi-entity nonprofit organization. This position ensures timely payroll administration and support for monthly financial reporting. This is a hybrid position located in downtown Sacramento requiring four days a week (Monday – Thursday) in the office; Fridays are remote.

  • Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations monthly
  • Experience reconciling and monitoring bank and investment statements monthly
  • Experience assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Experience assisting in the preparation of financial statements
  • Experience reviewing and validating accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Experience assisting with grant reporting and tracking of program expenditures
  • Experience preparing and filing property tax reports, sales tax reports, quarterly tax filings, and other reports or forms as necessary
  • Experience monitoring and maintaining supporting documentation in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards and audit requirements

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for employees across multiple nonprofit entities.
  • Maintain payroll records, employee earnings, deductions, benefits, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
  • Review and verify employee timesheets, leave balances, and payroll changes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Prepare payroll reports and reconcile payroll-related accounts.
  • Coordinate payroll tax filings and year-end reporting, including W-2s and other required forms.
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations monthly.
  • Reconcile and monitor bank and investment statements monthly.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements according to distribution schedule.
  • Review and validate accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Assist with grant reporting and tracking of program expenditures.
  • Prepare and file property tax reports, sales tax reports, quarterly tax filings, and other reports or forms as necessary.
  • Monitor and maintain supporting documentation in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards and audit requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
