About The Position

The Payroll Accounting Analyst is responsible for overseeing payroll operations and serving as a key analytical resource within the Finance Department. This role ensures payroll accuracy, performs financial analysis, and partners with department leaders to support decisions related to labor, commissions, and incentive programs. This position operates with a high degree of autonomy and requires strong self-management and the ability to lead cross-functional discussions. Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-7+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed
  • Must speak to supervisor at least two (2) hours before the start of their scheduled shift when calling in sick. Voicemail or e-mail messages are not acceptable replacements
  • Required to wear company-issued apparel and safety personal protective equipment
  • Use and maintenance of company-issued equipment
  • Work safely and follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
  • For all on-the-job injuries or accidents, must notify Safety Officer and their Supervisor immediately (no later than 1 hour) and file a report.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Possesses visual and physical dexterity as required.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license and is subject to a pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and process payroll ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Perform variance analysis and detailed payroll review
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Support month-end and year-end close
  • Drive process improvements and strengthen internal controls
  • Review and manage Sales and Operations incentive programs
  • Analyze payout trends, cost impacts, and variances
  • Validate commission calculations and resolve discrepancies
  • Partner with leadership to refine compensation structures
  • Perform high-level analysis of sales routes and compensation impact
  • Identify inefficiencies, risks, and cost drivers
  • Ensure alignment between route activity and payroll outcomes
  • Work with Sales, Operations, and HR leadership
  • Lead discussions on discrepancies and trends
  • Communicate financial insights clearly to management
  • Independently manage deadlines and priorities
  • Investigate issues and implement solutions
  • Maintain and improve processes and documentation
  • Attend company meetings and training sessions as requested
