The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Accountant in the Payroll division of the Finance Department. Requirements

  • Two years of progressively responsible experience processing payroll required.
  • Texas Class C driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • One year in general accounting experience is preferred.
  • Tyler Munis software experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll and work with P&C and Payroll Liaisons to ensure timely and accurate handling of salary and benefit changes, garnishments, taxes, and other required deductions.
  • Process monthly new hire personnel data in Munis and ExecuTime and update accruals and benefit deductions.
  • Create payroll batches, process payroll adjustments, and generate general ledger import files in Munis.
  • Assist with the preparation of bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including W2’s.
  • Work directly with Payroll Liaisons and employees to help research, troubleshoot and resolve any payroll-related issues.
  • Partner with other payroll and accounting team members to complete required tasks and cover duties in their absence.
