About The Position

This position is responsible for performing payroll and labor related financial functions. The ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, while maintaining a strong attention to detail and accuracy is a must. This position will require interaction with all employee and management levels as well as frequent interaction with Human Resources, various agencies, and third-party providers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years of Payroll processing experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Reporting and data analysis experience
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality working with sensitive information
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with all layers within the organization as well as outside agencies and third-party providers
  • Ability to effectively work as a team player in a fast paced, deadline driven environment

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of Payroll processing experience
  • Experience working with mainframe based financial systems
  • PeopleSoft experience
  • Prior experience working with multiple pay groups / collective bargaining units
  • Microsoft office suite

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality checks on all data entry activity performed by the department’s financial clerks.
  • Audit and monitor all payroll activity related to internal transfers between pay groups.
  • Calculate and process payoffs; ensure accuracy of pay and labor transactions.
  • Coordinate tax location code updates for employees entering and returning from extended work assignments.
  • Coordinate wage and tax reversals as necessary.
  • Monitor and perform updates to multistate taxation related activity.
  • Evaluate monthly leave accrual activity for accuracy.
  • Perform updates as necessary.
