The payments landscape is rapidly evolving with initiatives such as cash management for entities, emerging payments for both entities and consumers, use of AI for various payment support services, online payment channels and workflow platforms, ISO 20022, and ongoing regulatory and industry-driven innovations. This role will lead both new and existing payments initiatives, ensure compliance with mandates, and shape the broader payments strategy, including digital adoption and control enhancements. The Payments Product Manager will oversee all payments products for Wealth, drive strategic global product initiatives, provide subject‑matter expertise, support bankers & client experience, and advance digital channel development. Key responsibilities include developing product plans, executing product strategies, meeting regulatory and industry requirements, and representing the product across regional and global forums. The role will involve detailed analysis of business processes, controls, governance, and end‑to‑end operations, while collaborating with the Front Office, Change Management, Control Functions, Technology, Operations, and other internal partners to deliver effective solutions. The ideal candidate will have relevant product management experience and familiarity with banking and regulatory policies. Strong relationship‑building, influencing capabilities, and effective communication skills are essential. Ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of the wealth management continuum, deep expertise in deposits and money movement capabilities, and a proven ability to lead complex product rollout in a matrixed environment. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days per week in the New York 601 Lexington office.

Requirements

  • Relevant product management experience
  • Proven experience in payments
  • Familiarity with banking and regulatory policies
  • Strong relationship‑building, influencing capabilities, and effective communication skills
  • Strong understanding of the wealth management continuum
  • Deep expertise in deposits and money movement capabilities
  • Proven ability to lead complex product rollout in a matrixed environment
  • Strong understanding of payments products (including wires, ACH, transfers, Zelle)
  • Strong understanding of cash management products and services for entity clients (including treasury and accounts payable / receivable needs, maker / checker payment flows, and wire / check / ACH / file processing)
  • Experience in working with payment regulations and large‑scale programs
  • Strong understanding of online payment processing and workflow platforms
  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of payment products, rails and digital infrastructure
  • Interest in emerging payments technology, open banking infrastructure
  • Experience with instant payment capabilities and digital payment channels
  • Familiarity with key payment networks (CHIPS, FED, SWIFT) and ISO 20022 standards
  • Background in process and control design, process simplification
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong cross‑functional relationships
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Manage day‑to‑day product activities, including delivery, client experience, and communication strategies, while helping the team prioritize, resolve obstacles, and achieve business goals.
  • Define and implement product strategies by analyzing customer behavior, market trends, competitive practices, and product economics.
  • Serve as the subject‑matter expert for client experience, product features, and servicing processes.
  • Lead initiatives through the full project lifecycle, coordinating with cross‑functional teams and external partners.
  • Partner closely with front office, operations, risk and control partners, platform and technology teams to understand the needs, define product solution and drive excellence in client experience.
  • Manage product approvals, translate requirements into user stories, define acceptance criteria, oversee testing, and support post‑implementation activities.
  • Provide recommendations based on regulatory changes, competitive dynamics, consumer insights, and market research.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to identify opportunities for innovation, revenue growth, and improved client experience.
  • Oversee initiative lifecycles and daily product support, including development and maintenance of procedures and training materials.
  • Drive rapid resolution of issues that negatively impact client experience.
  • Demonstrate strong self‑motivation, communication, decision‑making, and adaptability in an agile environment.
