About The Position

The Payment Processing Analyst is responsible for various financial processes which include, but are not limited to, payment receipt processing and application, policy compliance and timeliness in the day-to-day administration of Payment Processing functions. The Payment Processing Analyst ensures the accurate accounting of payment and provider overpayment transactions received by Premera, both on-site and in bank lockboxes. This role requires frequent cross-functional interaction within Premera, its subsidiaries, and affiliates as well as with external vendors supporting remittance processing. The Payment Processing Analyst role requires professionalism, sound judgment, and excellent communication and consulting skills. Requirements

  • An associate’s degree in business or accounting or 2 years of relevant experience. (Required)
  • Three (3) years of production accounting or payment processing experience. (Required)
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word and other Microsoft applications. (Required)
  • In addition to a standard background check, this position requires a credit check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Workday or similar application. (Preferred)
  • Experience in payment receipts applications. (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Accurately record all payment processing transactions.
  • Analyze and interpret accounting data to ensure appropriate coding and recording of transactions.
  • Process financial transactions to include PBC splits and transfers.
  • Use bank portals and company systems and processes for decisioning and allocation of payments.
  • Execute direct debit transactions from group accounts, to include FEP/OPM drawdowns, as directed.
  • Partner with various departments throughout the Premera Group companies on questions and issues related to payment processing and overpayment (refund) transactions.
  • Identify and address opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Use finance best practices to design, develop, and implement policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain databases regarding member mailings and communications.
  • Perform work in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Backup Senior Analyst as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
