About The Position

The Payment Operations Specialist I supports daily payment processing activities, including transaction handling, reconciliations, and customer support. The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance, and adherence to operational procedures while contributing to the efficiency of the payment operations team. The specialist processes payment types such as ACH and RTP, assists with payment issues and failed transactions, responds to internal inquiries, and escalates potential fraud or risk as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Understand and comply with applicable regulations, including the Community Reinvestment Act, Bank Secrecy Act, and Fair Credit Reporting Act.
• Understand and comply with NACHA rules and guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• One or more years of experience in payment operations.

Responsibilities

• Process various payment types, including ACH and RTP, in accordance with established procedures.
• Perform daily reconciliations and assist in identifying discrepancies.
• Support resolution of payment issues and failed transactions.
• Respond to internal inquiries regarding payment status and procedures.
• Assist in identifying potential fraud or risk and escalate as needed.
• Maintain compliance with NACHA rules, Regulation E, and internal policies.
• Participate in team meetings and cross-functional collaboration.
