Pavement Markings Supervisor
About The Position
Traffic Control & Engineering (TCE) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Pavement Markings Supervisor. The selected candidate will supervise Traffic Device Maintainers responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of pavement markings and other traffic control devices citywide. Responsibilities include overseeing Vision Zero projects; planning and scheduling work crews; coordinating activities with other units; managing the allocation of vehicles and equipment; and overseeing the maintenance and operational readiness of pavement marking equipment. Administrative duties include maintaining absence control calendars, evaluating staff, recommending process improvements, and attending meetings. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining safe work environments, ensuring compliance with all agency safety rules and regulations, and enforcing proper use of safety equipment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, the ability to manage daily operations effectively, meet milestones, and foster staff development while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. The candidate will be expected to lead collaboratively and inclusively, seeking to cultivate continued professional development, develop a strong team, and to effectively communicate through verbal and written forms with all stakeholders. Requirements
- Must be serving permanently in the title, or must be reachable on DOT's promotional list.
- At least two years of experience as a Traffic Device Maintainer working for the NYC Department of Transportation; or
- Three years of recent, satisfactory, full-time experience maintaining, servicing and repairing mechanical equipment or experience of a nature similar to the duties described above, at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
- Possess a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
- For appointment to certain positions, a Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) valid in the State of New York, with no restrictions, is required. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
