About The Position

The Patient Transporter moves patients safely and efficiently from their rooms to other parts of the hospital as needed for patient care. The role requires adherence to schedules and timely communication with departments about changes. The position is in the Patient Transport department at St. Joseph Warren Hospital and is a collective bargaining unit position. On-the-job training is provided; no prior experience is required.

Requirements

• Able to write and understand written and oral communications.
• Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner.
• Basic math skills.

Nice To Haves

• High school degree or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transfer patients between hospital areas by wheelchair, bed, or stretcher.
• Assist with transporting essential supplies during traumas and cardiac arrests.
• Keep patients covered for comfort and privacy and remain with them for safety.
• Maintain daily transportation logs, including departure and arrival times, patient names, and equipment transported.
• Collaborate with other employees to meet the needs of patients and departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
