About The Position

The Patient Transporter moves patients safely and efficiently from their rooms to other areas of the hospital as needed for patient care. The role requires following schedules and promptly notifying departments of changes. This is a collective bargaining unit position at St. Joseph Warren Hospital. No prior experience is required; on-the-job training is provided.

Requirements

• Able to write and understand written and oral communications.
• Engage professionally with staff and patients.
• Basic math skills.

Nice To Haves

• High school degree or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transfer patients between areas by wheelchair, bed, or stretcher.
• Assist with transporting essential supplies during traumas and cardiac arrests.
• Keep patients covered for comfort and privacy, and remain with them for safety.
• Maintain daily transportation logs, including departure and arrival times, patient names, and equipment transported.
• Collaborate with employees to meet patient and department needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
