About The Position

The Patient Transporter works in the Radiology department at UAB St. Vincent’s East, transporting patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the facility. The role supports inpatient and outpatient imaging services and contributes to patient care and diagnostic workflows. The schedule includes alternating weekends from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., with availability for two or three weekdays—Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Friday—from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The position is PRN. Requirements

BLS Provider certification, obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
High school diploma equivalency or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience. Applicable required professional licensure or certification may substitute for education or experience.

Responsibilities

Transport patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the facility.
Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to designated locations, including patients using oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors, and other equipment.
Assist patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfers to or from wheelchairs or stretchers.
Deliver equipment and specimens to requesting staff or departments.
May assist staff with removing deceased patients from units and transporting them to the morgue.
Greet patients and visitors and provide information and directions.
