PATIENT TRANSPORTER (FULL AND PART TIME)
About The Position
Crothall Healthcare is hiring full-time and part-time Patient Transporters at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. The role is responsible for safely, accurately, and promptly transporting patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items to their destinations within the hospital. Transporters use wheelchairs and other approved rolling equipment, secure patients and medical attachments, communicate with hospital staff, and help ensure patients are comfortable during transport. No prior experience is required. The fixed pay rate is $18.00 per hour. Days and hours may vary; overnight and weekend availability is required.

Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients, secure IVs and drainage tubes, and secure patients.
- Use wheelchairs and other approved rolling stock to transport patients.
- Demonstrate competency in transporting patients of all specific age groups.
- Transport patients to their destinations safely, accurately, and on time, using the requested equipment.
- Communicate effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians, reception, and dispatch.
- Attend to patient comfort by offering blankets, checking modesty, and engaging only in appropriate conversation; never transport patients in severe pain.
- Immediately alert nursing staff to signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction.
- Maintain equipment and report equipment that needs repair.
- Comply with federal, state, JCAHO, and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Follow facility confidentiality and patient-rights policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
