About The Position

The Patient Transporter transports patients and materials throughout hospital areas, following network leadership guidelines and campus needs for average transport times. The role maintains transport equipment and supplies, complies with safety and patient-care protocols, and meets customer-service and quality standards in interactions with patients, staff, and the public. The position is based at John C. Lincoln Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, in Central Transportation Services, with a day shift from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or training is required upon hire.
• High school coursework or certificate is required.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Six months of healthcare and customer-service work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or chair, and move materials to and from designated areas or departments.
• Follow safety protocols when transporting patients and materials, use proper body mechanics, and ensure patient safety during transfers between surfaces or devices.
• Operate company-issued mobile devices; duties may include dispatch work.
• Maintain accurate documentation and provide accurate handoffs to clinical staff.
• Communicate appropriately with patients and care-team members; introduce oneself, verify patient identity, and explain the patient's destination.
• Follow HonorHealth Standards of Conduct and demonstrate ICARE values.
• Comply with established PPE guidelines and proper patient-handling practices.
• Maintain and sanitize wheelchairs and stretchers according to established protocols; report equipment malfunctions immediately and remove affected equipment from service.
• Use electronic medical record systems consistently to support safe and efficient patient transport.
